As part of our 125 years anniversary celebrations, we held a Generations Morning Tea on Friday 1 April. Anyone with a connection to a Loreto School and a current Loreto Normanhurst student was invited to celebrate with us. This was a wonderful celebration honouring the generations that flow through our community.

The morning started with a student-led communion, that was followed by a morning tea. The event brought together our students and their relatives with Loreto connections. We had a fabulous turn out with over 60 alumnae and students attend despite the weather. Amongst our many guests, we had the pleasure of having Barbara Harvey ('97), the 1997 school captain, and  ESA President, Sam Wegner (’89) attend with their daughters.

We also had the privilege of welcoming three generations of the Carolan family to morning tea; Amanda McMillan (’70), Amelia Carolan (’97) and Annabelle and Polly, who are current boarders here at Loreto Normanhurst. They shared stories from their time here, from their first night, to which their favourite bed was. Amanda reminisced about her time in the boarding house and shared where the nuns would sit when taking the roll.

We were delighted to see how many different Loreto schools were represented in our community. Stories were shared from Loreto schools from all around the world, including schools across Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Dublin, and Mauritius. These narratives drew attention to us as Loreto people; what sets us apart but more importantly, what unifies us as such a strong community.

It was a beautiful morning, with lots of reconnecting with old friends and celebrating the community we have here at Loreto Normanhurst.

Thank you to all who braved the rain to attend this special event.
