Alumnae Newsletter |
Please join us in celebrating the latest achievements of our alumnae community. We invite you to share news of your own by posting directly to the Normo Network or sending an email to normonetwork@loretonh.nsw.edu.au. This article will be updated with important milestones, celebrations and recognition of winter 2021, as we are made aware of them.
We congratulate Sr Deirdre Browne IBVM, who received a Medal of the Order of Australia in the June Queen's Birthday Honours for her service to community as a religious sister, and through music, education and the liturgical arts.
Congratulations to Kate Eastman SC ('84) for her appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to law, human rights and to professional organisations.
We wish to acknowledge Karen Robinson ('86) who in May was appointed as a Judge to the District Court of NSW, after numerous years as a Barrister and then Magistrate in Local and District Courts.
Ellen Roberts ('09) was selected to compete on the Australian Softball team at the Tokyo Olympics. She will be joining Liz Clay ('12) who will represent Australia in 100-metre hurdles, as well as Loreto Kirribilli ex-student Tara Rigney ('17) who is in the Australian Olympic Double Scull. Congratulations also to Tahli Moore ('12) who was selected to the Softball Squad to trial for the Olympic Team. Both Ellen and Tahli visited Loreto Normanhurst in May to speak to students and staff about their experiences in sport - you can watch the recording here if you are a registered user.
Sophie Hanrahan ('16) was acknowledged as the winner of the Macquarie University Mooting Championship in May. Sophie is also a current coach of Oratory at Loreto Normanhurst.
Musical theatre performer and singer Elise McCann ('02) has added another feather in her cap as the producer of the short-form web comedy The Power of the Dream about an unlikely duo aspiring to compete in the Tokyo Olympics, her second stint as a producer for Chips & Gravy Films. We were honoured to welcome Elise to open last year's virtual HSC Showcase, and invite registered users to watch the recording of her inspiring address here.
