Spring greetings to all alumnae,

I hope you are all well, enjoying the warmer weather, and counting down to summer holidays.

Our thoughts go out to all the families and communities still confronting the effects of flooding and still experiencing difficult and dangerous weather conditions. To those farmers who have had their crops and livestock affected by floods after such a promising season, our condolences and wishes for a better season ahead. Please join me in offering up a prayer for the safety and the prosperity of those rural communities.

Last Sunday was Spring Fair at Normo! The sun was out and there were happy faces everywhere. Congratulations to PAL for their tireless work in making this amazing community event a reality. The Ex-Students’ Association brought some spring colour with our traditional plants and flowers stall, and we had a magnificent day chatting to alumnae, students, current and past parents, teachers, and community members.  In addition to our flora, the stall received a lovely donation of “Rainbow Land” tea cosies and pots from Carmel Byrnes (ESA Committee member and former Loreto Normanhurst Board member). The Rainbow Land idea came from a quote from Mother Gonzaga Barry connected to her famous arrival at the site of the school just as a rainbow appeared. We sold Rainbow Land tea sets with the cosy bedecked pots and our Loreto Normanhurst mugs. They were immensely popular! The Rainbow Land tea sets were a real conversation starter and led to many chats about the history of the school and the varied work of the Association, which brought a warm glow to us all.

The Committee of the ESA recently undertook a strategic planning day. The outcomes of that planning day will ensure that the Ex-Students' Association of Loreto Normanhurst meets the future with a dynamic approach, a firm commitment to Mary Ward values and the increasing relevance of its program to all alumnae. My thanks to all who participated. Your work will be appreciated by present and future alumnae.

I am very much looking forward to the Alumnae Eucharist and Christmas Lunch tomorrow on Tuesday, 8 November at the school. I would like to offer sincere thanks to the school for their generosity in hosting this event, free of charge to all alumnae.
