Congratulations to Lucy Tassell who was awarded the University Medal in Journalism at UTS. She completed a double degree: Bachelor of International Studies and Bachelor of Communications with Honours in Journalism. Lucy's Honours thesis topic was “The ‘workhorse’ and the ‘bridesmaid’: comparing Sydney newspaper coverage of Tanya Plibersek and Michaelia Cash in the post #MeToo media landscape”. During her degree Lucy was elected Vice-President of the UTS Debating Society and competed and adjudicated at many university debating competitions. She also directed the UTS Revue and wrote for Vertigo; and spent a year living in Montreal, studying French at Université du Québec à Montréal. Lucy is currently working as a researcher and media aide in the NSW Parliament.
Congratulations to Annabelle Gray who won the University Medal in Law at UTS. At the ceremony, the UTS Chancellor Catherine Livingstone (Class of ’72) presented Annabelle with the University medal. What an extraordinary feat for two Loreto ex-students to win the University Medal in different disciplines in the same year and to also be presented by an ex-Loreto girl!
Congratulations to Ashleigh whose book ‘What do you Call your Grandma’ is a CBCA Shortlisted Book 2022. We also welcomed Ashleigh back to our Primary School to read her new book 'Solomon Macaroni and the Cousin Catastrophe'. See more from Ashleigh here.
Congratulations to Emma who was honoured with a Rotary Award for Pride of Workmanship for her work in disability services. We are proud of the servant leadership Emma demonstrates in her work as a Client Co-ordinator.
Congratulations to Emma who competed as part of the Women’s 8 at the Rowing World Cup in Poland. The crew finished 3rd behind the Netherlands and Denmark. Emma also who won gold in the World Rowing Cup in Switzerland as part of the Women’s 8.
Congratulations to Kate who has received her Honorary Doctorate of Laws from UTS.
Congratulations to Catriona who was awarded her PhD from UNSW. Catriona was awarded the JM Freeland Prize for Significant Research Contribution for her PhD on the role of the client in an alternative framework for understanding modernity in postwar interior design. Catriona’s photo below was taken by Stef Roche Dobb (Class of 1982).
We look forward to welcoming Catriona to Loreto Normanhurst on 26 August to open our HSC Showcase 2022.
