This year’s event held extra significance, as it coincided with the celebration of 150 Years of Loreto in Australia. We were delighted to bring these two important milestones together in a celebration of connection, tradition and legacy.
The afternoon began in the Curran Theatre with a moving performance of Serious Business , a contemporary adaptation of a centenary play that follows the journey of Mother Gonzaga Barry ibvm to Australia. The performance was a powerful reminder of the pioneering Loreto spirit, and the enduring impact of those early footsteps. Our Golden Jubilarians were joined by our Year 5 and 6 students who asked Sr Sandra Perrett ibvm, the curator of the 150 Years Exhibition, some very insightful questions after the performance.
Following the performance, guests enjoyed a light lunch and a private viewing of the 150 Years of Loreto in Australia Exhibition. The exhibition invited reflection on the legacy our Golden Jubilarians helped shape, and the generations of Loreto women who have followed.
We are grateful to all who joined us for this memorable occasion, and for the opportunity to celebrate the stories, friendships and enduring bonds that continue to unite the Loreto Normanhurst community.
