1984 classmates Genevieve Jacobs AM (Ryan) and Christina Cook (Gilmour) are leading the Canberra International Music Festival as chair and deputy chair. The pair will steer the Festival Board in 2022 (hopefully in a manner that would make Mrs Evans and the rest of the 1980's LN music department proud).
The Canberra International Music Festival has a reputation for excellence and innovation, with its roots in the community. Over 25 years the Festival has grown from home concerts to a two week multi-venue event each May while interstate audiences have increased by 30% recently. The focus is on contemporary and classical music, there's an annual composer in residence, and there is a strong Indigenous program helmed by renowned artistic director Roland Peelman.
By day, Christina manages Musica Viva in the ACT, supporting emerging artists, presenting chamber music, and bringing live music and education to audiences young and old. Genevieve is the group editor for Region Media, a rapidly growing digital news platform, and also chairs the ACT Arts Minister's advisory council.
Both welcome Loreto visitors to the festival which will run from 29 April to 10 May, 2022.
