El Leverington ('10) is an experienced Industrial and Employment lawyer with a strong commitment to workers' rights. With a background in legal and industrial roles at Unions NSW, she has been a passionate advocate for employees. She joined Slater and Gordon in 2021, working closely with the union movement to provide honest and practical advice to clients, addressing various employment law matters. Her legal practice is characterized by kindness, making a positive impact in the field.
As a dedicated advocate, El represents workers in State and Federal jurisdictions, handling cases related to dismissals, discrimination, underpayment, and more. She also represents trade unions in various litigation matters. Her career is centered on promoting fairness and justice in the workplace, where she plays a vital role in empowering individuals and organizations to achieve constructive resolutions.
Kara Greiner ('92) is principal solicitor of Kidman Legal, a boutique criminal law firm. Over the last 20 years Kara has represented clients charged with a wide range of offences including murder, preparation for terrorism, child sex tourism, drug importation and corporate fraud. From August 2012 till February 2017 Kara acted for Lian Bin Xie in one of the longest running criminal trials with a single defendant in Australian criminal history (“the Lin Family murders”). Kara has appeared in jurisdictions ranging from the Children’s Court to the Supreme Court, coronial inquests, the ICAC and the Parole Authority.
In addition to practicing law, Kara has had diverse experiences in the media from being a weekend presenter on triple j, several years hosting FBi’s interview show ‘Out of the Box,’ and as a TV reviewer on Radio National. As a screenwriter Kara has written for TV shows (The Chasers’ War Against Everything/ David Tench Tonight) and had a television show and film script optioned by production companies.
